Obvious spam uploads. — Mikhail Ryazanov (talk) 08:19, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I deleted all of their uploads under COM:CSD#G10 and issued them a warning. I am not sure if I should push the block button before having the user warned previously. I'd leave this to experienced admins. ─ Aafī (talk) 08:32, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
However, I'm sure that a COM:IU-block is warranted. ─ Aafī (talk) 08:39, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

HTTP logos

The following files need indefinite semi-protection:

There was a previous attempt at semi-protection but if I understand the log correctly, it expired the same minute it was applied. Previous attempts at reverting vandalism have been ineffective since daisy-chained vandalism (this edit, followed by this edit) resulted in only the second edit being reverted.

I've attempted to revert both files to their last-known-good revisions, but more items may have been missed on File:HTTP logo.svg. Given the extensive amounts of vandalism that file has received I think they require indefinite page protections. --Stux (talk) 13:44, 18 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

✓ Done The last protection was actually for a year. I've protected the first one indefinitely, since it got vandalized as soon as that year was over and this is now the fourth protection on that file. The second file I protected for 3 months. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 19:07, 18 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oops! I'm blind. Sorry I didn't notice the year difference in that diff. My apologies. Thanks for pointing that out! More than that, thank you very much for the indef protection on File:HTTP logo.svg, @The Squirrel Conspiracy! It makes sense that File:HTTP logo - 2014.svg should only need it for a short time given that it's not the primary target. Thanks again! --Stux (talk) 19:26, 18 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

After inserting the deletion request into the category page to be deleted, the preview demanded me to insert a template with already filled in parameters to a red link page, which I clicked and filled accordingly.
If this to me seemingly compliant action was the wrong one, you should really consider to make the deletion request procedure less counterintuitive. He who sets a trap will capture animals.
If you want me not to request deletions any more, fine, I will comply. Good luck then for the administrative workload if the reasons for deletion for out-of-use pages and categories won't be put forward any more.

Prominent Cat images

I just discovered this page and it points out that the Cat article is a frequent target of vandalism. It turns out that the images on that page also seem to be common targets for minor vandalism. I'd like to suggest that these images (being posted on the intro collage on that page) be indefinitely semi-protected, at least for as long as they're present on that page. Are there any templates that help with such images?

Please let me know if this is feasible.

Thank you, --Stux (talk) 14:40, 21 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Category:Welte-Mignon - spam/vandalism from GRP

Hi there - please semiprotect Category:Welte-Mignon, which is one of the current targets of this LTA pest. A few weeks would be good. Thank you in advance - Antandrus (talk) 18:45, 21 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

User continued uploading copyrighted files after warning and deletions. 0x0a (talk) 14:32, 22 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I have obtained the necessary permissions for these images. Could you please advise on how I can resolve this issue? Terrylee814 (talk) 15:44, 22 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Terrylee814: The copyright holder should send a permission for a free license via COM:VRT. Yann (talk) 17:12, 22 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thank you for the guidance, @Yann. I have just sent an email following the procedure to COM:VRT with the necessary permissions from the copyright holder. Terrylee814 (talk) 20:02, 22 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Terrylee814: Hi Terrylee, I hope you realize that you could have corrected the source and author for files in the DR, but instead of doing so, you chose to continue uploading the files and filling in the license tag blindly, including what you did on your another account. Put yourself in their shoes, if you were the author and someone else falsely claimed your work as their own, how would you feel? I hope you can read the Licensing policy before proceeding to upload files. 0x0a (talk) 20:50, 22 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Excel logo file page

File:Microsoft Excel 2013-2019 logo.svg received vandalism from different IPs in the last few weeks. More generally, when the file page is edited by anonymous users, most of them need to be reverted over the years. whym (talk) 04:51, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
